Why do I get AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'getCurrentBlendName' when I run blenderCAVE?

You are probably using an original version of the blender player, without blenderCAVE patch. See the tutorial for patching related issues. Before compiling blender, check the ccmake (or whatever) option WITH_PLAYER is ON.
